Restaurants
Freddy's
A trip to Paris for us is never complete without a visit to this very special wine bar with incredible tapas, and it's where we went to dinner the night we got engaged! The entire restaurant can't be more than 500 SF with counter seating throughout and a tiny open kitchen in the middle of it all. They do not take reservations and the layout is best suited for parties of 2 or fewer. The wait can be long so put your name in early, and grab a drink at the bar or at Bar du Marche across the street.

Parcelles
This is a hard reservation to get, but the food at this restaurant in the Marais is more than worth it. French food with a modern twist, the menu here changes daily and each dish is lovingly prepared. Reservations open two weeks in advance at midnight.

Terra bar à vins
In the same style as Freddy's, Terra bar a vins is a wine bar with incredible food. The menu is small but built to share, you can try more than half the menu in a single dinner. Seating here is side by side along a counter so parties of no more than three people work best.

L'Ami Jean
The food is outstanding at this classic french Bistro, although don't be surprised if you are sitting next to other Americans given the proximity to the Eiffel Tower. In very classic french style, the tables are tight here...good luck if you have to get up to use the restroom! Reservations are already open for July 2025.

La Tour d'Argent
If you are looking for a high-end, fine-dining experience during your stay in Paris, there are few French resturants as storied as Michelin-starred La Tour d'Argent. This restaurant serves classic French dishes, including their beloved pressed duck, and has one of the most impressive wine cellars in the world, which pairs well with the unmatched view of the Seine and Notre Dame. A strict dress code is enforced, including dinner jackets for men. Reservations required.

Septime / Clamato
With one Michelin star and having been on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list since 2017, Septime features modern farm-to-table cuisine and offers an exquisite tasting menu that changes frequently (5 courses at lunch, 7 at dinner, and we recommend the wine pairing!). This is arguably the hardest reservation in Paris, so if you are not on top of it you'll miss out. Make sure to call at midnight (yes, Paris time!) one month in advance. Clamato, its seafood-focused sister next door does not take reservations but tends to attract a long line so if you're interested, go early!

L'Avant Comptoir de la Terre et de la Mer
This standing room only tapas bar is beloved by many, but especially by the famous Anthony Bourdain and Sophie's beloved bridesmaid Kendal Barrett who spent 6 months studying abroad in this incredible city! In addition to the delicious seafood and shared plates, this restaurant also has an outstanding wine list.

Pastavino
This italian sandwich shop is very unassuming, but one of our favorite places to visit when we need lunch on the go! Any of the paninis are a great choice, expecially for a picnic in Luxembourg Gardens or a drink along the Seine.

Marche Couvert des Enfants Rouges
This covered market in the Marais has been around since the 17th century and has everything you could ever want, from fresh produce and flowers, to sandwiches and oysters, you could sit and eat here all day.

Ralph's Paris
While the food here is undoubtedly American and not French, we still love this place, particularly for the ambiance. The courtyard is magical and feels like a beautiful oasis within St. Germain des Pres.

Drinks
Chez Nous
The perfect place to sit for a bottle of wine and an after dinner (or before!) cheese snack! We visited this sweet wine bar on our very first trip to Paris together.

James Joyce Bar
This dimly lit bar with velour upholstery is located inside of the Pavillon Faubourg hotel. The cocktail menu rotates seasonally, sometimes drawing inspitation from different cities, and other asking you to choose tarot cards to inspire your drink. Ordering on its own is an experience, so go here if you are feeling patient and looking for a unique cocktail.

Prescription Cocktail Club
A moody, two-story cocktail bar with outstanding drinks, this is the perfect place to go after dinner for a nightcap. If you sit at the bar, you're bound to watch the bartender do some pretty cool tricks.

Bar du Marche
On the busy corner of Rue du Buci and Rue du Seine, this is a great place to stand and have a drink while you're waiting to be seated at nearby Freddy's, and it's where we had our first drink after getting engaged when we were doing just that! This is not one to visit for the food, but we love sitting at the bar or on the busy sidewalk to enjoy fun people watching along Rue du Buci and the disco music at this no-frills cocktail bar.

La Caveau de la Huchette
If you're looking for more than just an after dinner cocktail, visit this rowdy jazz bar for the atmosphere and the music!

Le Très Particulier
This cocktail bar is located within the Hotel Particulier which was formerly a private mansion that was converted to a 5-suite boutique hotel in 2022. The garden in this hotel is one-of-a-kind and the perfect place to have a carefully crafted cocktail if you are exploring Montmartre.

Things to Do
There are limitless things to do and places to explore in Paris. After you've checked the box on visiting the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, and Versailles, here are some of our other favorite activities in Paris
Shop at Le Bon Marche
A department store that puts every other department store to shame, Le Bon Marche is heaven on earth for anyone who loves to shop. There are hundreds of hours of shopping across the four floors to explore here. Top tip: Don't forget to collect your tax refund on the third floor before flying home!

Picnic in Luxembourg Gardens
Jack proposed in this lush 60-acre park in the middle of Paris. One of our favorite things to do is bring a bottle of wine and sandwiches or some cheese and crackers (there are some great little patisseries and wine shops along Rue de Fleurus on the west side of the park) and have a picnic!

Visit one of Paris' many museums
Many
There are more incredible museums than we could count in this city. While the Louvre is the most well known, some of the other world renowned museums in the city include Musée d'Orsay, Musée de l'Orangerie, Musée National Picasso, Palais de Tokyo, La Gallerie Dior, and Foundation Louis Vuitton.

Explore Montmartre
Known originally as an artistic haven, this picturesque neighborhood on the edge of the city is home to dozens of shops and restaurants as well as Sacré-Cœur, one of Paris' many ornate and storied cathedrals. For wine lovers, located in Montmartre is one of the five vineyards in all of Paris. Make sure to grab a drink at Le Très Particulier at the Hotel Particulier if you visit this charming neighborhood!
